Fries. We all love fries and can’t imagine if there’s anyone in the world that doesn’t. They make every meal complete. Piping hot, golden, crunchy, and simply irresistible. Sadly, they can go from hot to not in a few minutes. Cold fries can be a disaster. Unlike cold pizza that can be enjoyed later on or the next day, cold fries and day-old fries are not even worth it. It doesn’t really taste the same and most of the time, they get thrown out.
When it comes to reheating fries, the first thing that comes to mind is to throw them in the microwave or deep fry them again. Well, I hate to break it to you but that isn’t the best way. It doesn’t taste the same as when they were freshly made. Have you noticed they come out a bit soggy with the oil tasting stale?
We’ve discovered how to reheat fries and make it taste like they were freshly made. The best way to reheat fries, making them taste super fresh is to pan-fry in shallow oil. We carried out the experiment like some mad scientist and had to share this life-changing discovery.
Follow these three simple steps:
In a non-stick frying pan, place your burner on medium heat and drizzle some olive oil, the equivalent of drawing two circles. You’re better off using Extra virgin olive oil because it gives it a great taste, it’s healthy, and fires already retain oil. You don’t need the extra fat.
Let the pan heat up to the point of the oil being smokey and throw in the fries. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Make sure it’s an even layer of fries to allow them to get heated evenly and make it extra crisp. Flip them around to make sure they get evenly heated on all sides for a 3-5 minutes or less depending on the quantity.
Place them on a paper towel and pat down to drain excess fat. Sprinkle salt or for an extra kick sprinkle some dry pepper. Take it to another level and sprinkle some suya spice if you have any.
Crispy right? Enjoy!
